Happy Saturday SER-ATMTAS! My name is Micah (me-kah) Castillo and I am your President-Elect! Creating this website and transitioning from a newsletter format to the blog has been an absolute treat for me- I'm so excited to be sharing this with you all finally!! A little update about me: I am about to begin my sixth week as a third year Florida State University student from my home here in Central Florida! #goNoles - from a distance :’) I absolutely miss in-person voice lessons, ensembles, the oh so grand Tallahassee hills (aka my daily workout), and my Alpha Mu Alpha family, but I’m glad we are making the long distance work :’) I for sure didn’t picture myself still living at home when moving back in March, but I’ve been blessed with opportunities at my home parish to serve those in our community in different ways. In addition to cantoring at our weekend masses, I have been tasked with teaching a small High School Faith Formation Class, as well as coordinating after-school-care activities for our elementary students. It’s definitely been a new experience for me all in all, but I’m thankful to have some time out of the house every day to bring joy and some sense of normalcy to others. I’m also having too much fun driving my family crazy with all the perks of being a loud, music major and spoiling my dogs. Meet Dorota and Molly in the slideshow below :) My vision for this blog is to catch you all up on what our executive board has been planning for our region, as well as allow each school to "check-in" every Saturday in a fun and more interactive way. I will also be updating our website as needed, including information on conferences and scholarships (apply!!). If you have any further questions, recommendations, or have not been contacted by one of our SERAMTAS officers yet (and your school contact info is not on this website), please email me at [email protected]. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and once again, welcome to the new SERAMTAS blog :) Best, Micah Castillo (she/her)
